These pictures are taken from Catherine's mother's book (see the Edible Digest section for more details), the family's photo album shows young Catherine looking fragile in a bathing suit (right) and at a family wedding before one of many unsuccessful trips to the hospital (which only attempted to re-feed her and not deal with the underlying pain). Unlike the United States, in England and other countries, eating disorder clients can be hospitalized against their will as adults... however, it is only in the last ten years that England has begun to address the psychological component of disordered eating. Thanks to people like Catherine's mother, the message is getting out there- that people are dying needlessly. I use these photos of Catherine in attempt to continue that same message... I wish I could have met her.
