In the U.S. three people will die today from complications of their eating disorder... Recently, one of those that died was a wonderful young woman that I had the priviledge of knowing for a brief while.

My heart aches for the loss of the bright and beautiful, ASHLEY KANES.

Males will not only suffer from their anorexia, bulimia and distorted body image, they will suffer from being misunderstood.

Males are often seriously sick by the time they are diagnosed due to parenta nd professionals assumptions that males are immune to this illness. As a result, boys and men with eating disorders are often extra difficult to save.

(Many teenage guys have eating disorders, too... all ages, all races, all religions, all sexual orientations can be effected.)

Hello! Welcome to my website! It's nice to have you! This is a rather large, ironically, I'd call it "FAT" old website that has had the honor of being a highly-visited, sometimes questionable, apparently provocative (though no longer so much so), and rather graphic (literaly and figuratively) website dedicated to the complicated subject of eating disorders. Hope you have a chance to cruise around...

In my own Eating Disorder, which I struggled with for seven long years, my weight went up and down and all around, which is true for most people who has these eating diseases over a long period of time. No matter what my weight was, my Eating Disorder was legitimate, my suffering was very real, and my distorted body image insisted I was fat... there was no escape from the Eating Disorder's critic of every inch of my body, there was no relief... Eating Disorders are fiercely unfair in this way - you cannot "win" no matter how hard you may work, and you cannot ever be "done" because there is no satisfying the negative, critical Eating Disorder voice. It is a trap.

This site is written with nothing but love by a recovering anorexic/bulimic/compulsive eater, who now works with anorexics, bulimics and compulsive eaters... This site attempts to dig deeper into the meaning, struggle, experience, causes, and cures of disordered eating.

This page is meant for people who already know the basics about the three eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder (compulsive eating).

If you do NOT know the definitions, symptoms, medical consequences and other basic facts please refer to my link section and visit a site or two that has the basic information available (there are many such web sites). This web page assumes you know what I am talking about when I discuss these three disorders, and attempts to dig deeper into the meaning, struggle, experience, causes, and cures of disordered eating. There are visual aides scattered throughout this page as well as creative writing and opinions that I have developed after my own seven year battle, subsequent years of recovery & study of clinical psychology. IMPORTANT NOTE: This site is meant to be READ. All pictures are of RARE and EXTREME cases (& therefore are not representative). The most important thing we all know is true but pretend isn't, is that almost ALL people with Eating Disorders do NOT appear drastic in their body WEIGHT, and, in fact, ALL people with Eating Disorders can DIE at ANY time and at ANY weight.
